How hard is it to set up?
Not hard. You connect Stripe, add your trailers and rates, and share your booking link — no installer and no training required. If you already have a website, embedding takes an afternoon. If we build your site, it's live within 7 days. If you want a hand, we'll help you get set up.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If you can run a Google listing and a Facebook page, you can run Rentfield. There's nothing to install and no code to touch.
Do I have to use your payment system?
No. You connect your own Stripe account, and customer payments — including deposit holds — go straight to your bank on your own payout schedule. Rentfield never holds your money.
How does the deposit hold work?
The security deposit is placed on the customer's card at booking — held on the card, not charged, and released in one click on a clean return. If there's damage, you file a claim and capture only what you need.
What happens with deposits on rentals longer than a week?
Holds renew automatically before Stripe's ~7-day expiry, so long rentals and early bookings stay covered. If a renewal ever fails, you're alerted by text and email right away.
How does the Ride Dog GPS integration work?
You connect Ride Dog GPS with one click from your Rentfield dashboard. Once linked, you see every trailer's live location on one map, with speed, battery, trip history, and geofences, plus GPS-estimated mileage on every completed rental — no separate app or login. You can even buy trackers from inside Rentfield.
What happens to my existing bookings and customers when I switch?
Nothing changes overnight. When you switch, we'll help you bring over your current bookings and customer list so nothing falls through the cracks — you don't lose any history moving to Rentfield.
Do I have to move everything over at once?
No. Most trailer rental businesses start with new reservations live on Rentfield while finishing out existing bookings the old way, then fully move over once they're comfortable.
Is the signed agreement actually legally binding?
Yes. Every rental agreement is signed electronically at checkout and snapshotted to that booking, so you have an accurate record even if you change your terms later.
What will it cost?
Two ways to launch. We build your custom booking website for a one-time $499, then it's $129/mo for the software, hosting, and website maintenance. Or embed Rentfield on the site you already have for $129/mo with no build fee. Waitlist founders get the $499 build fee waived and pay $99/mo for their first 12 months, then $129/mo. No contracts — cancel anytime.
What happens after my first 12 months?
Founder pricing covers your first 12 months at $99/mo. After that, your plan moves to the standard $129/mo — same software, same features, nothing to re-sign. There's no contract, so you can cancel anytime.
Do you take a cut of my payments?
No. Rentfield never takes a percentage of your rentals. Payments go straight to your own Stripe account. The only processing fees are Stripe's standard rates, which go to Stripe, not us. Rentfield earns from your subscription only.
Is this just for trailers, or other rental equipment too?
Rentfield is purpose-built for trailer and equipment rental businesses. If you rent something adjacent, join the waitlist and we'll let you know as we expand.
Who is Rentfield not a good fit for?
Rentfield is built for independent trailer and equipment rental operators. It's probably not the right fit if you run a large multi-branch rental chain that needs an enterprise system with dispatch and accounting built in, if you rent vehicles, venues, or vacation property, or if you can't take payments through Stripe. Not sure? Join the waitlist and ask — we'll give you a straight answer.
